Old St. Nick

Old St. Nick is a favorite of mine at Christmas.
I don't have a true vintage St. Nick,
but I do have a small vintage style Santa Claus collection.

There's a charm about them that I love...

one that speaks to me about the spirit of giving.

After all, isn't that what Christmas is about?

One of our family's traditions at Christmastime was to
remember a family we knew to be in need...

often one whose husband/father was experiencing unemployment...
something we were familiar with ourselves...
and give in some way to that family.

One such year, we had a friend with a family of five children,
with whom we were blessed to be able to share.

Our children bought and wrapped toys for the five kids, and
my husband and I bought groceries for the family.

I'm sure you all have similar stories and experiences...

and can agree that there is so much fun, joy, and blessing in giving!

I appreciate you all stopping by for a visit,

Mary Alice

  8. Years ago, in hard times, my family was graced with a small but none-the-less generous gift at Christmastime. I can't tell you how it touched me or still does years later. There are no words. What a meaningful tradition it is to share your good fortune.

  13. Your Santa's are cute and vintage-ee. My mom used to give my grandmother one every year and now that she is getting really old she started giving them all to the grand kids. I got a cute one this year. A sweet thing to collect.
