Take a Seat

Chairs of all colors, shapes, and sizes
seem to be featured a lot in blog land.

I guess I'm not the only one who finds it hard
to resist a charming chair.

Bistro chairs have so much personality.

Children's chairs get me every time. I guess it's
their adorable miniature style.

Doll size chairs make a sweet vignette on a tabletop.

And then there's the vintage worn wicker that's
proven to be a comfortable bedroom chair.

Not to be outdone by two vintage french chairs
dressed in a burlap seat with a little white ruffle.

Would love to have four of these
to put around a farm table.

But for now.....
I've paired these wrought iron red chairs with the farm table,
loving the mix of textures and styles.

The great thing about chairs, you can always find room
for just one more.

Blessings,
Mary Alice

Porch Season

I love porch season!

There's something fun about setting up an outdoor room.

When we moved into our home,
adding a screened in porch was high on the to-do list.

The summers are very hot and not without much humidity.

So a screened in porch, before a deck, seemed the way to go.

A couple of years later we were able to take the plunge,
and let me tell you, it has been worth every penny!

I love filling it with vintage furniture
and collections....

so each season it can take on a
little bit different look....but that's the fun of it.

Last year I changed out the table and chairs
and brought in a farm table.

I found this small tobacco drying basket at a junky consignment shop.

The porch is the perfect place for my collection
of vintage watering cans. This little one is so cute.

A larger red one is the perfect size to hold my child-size
rake, shovel, and hoe which were my mother's when
she was a little girl. Love them!

Each watering can has a charm of its own.

It's fun hanging old trellises around the porch.

Definitely adds to that gardeny feel.

And, of course, what would a summer porch be
without a birdcage....

or two....

or three!

If you're looking....this is where you'll find me, spring and summer....
most mornings, early evenings, and sometimes in between.

Feel free to stop by....I'll serve you up some goodies!

Blessings,

Mary Alice

Rainy Day Bling

Today is a rainy cloudy day, but we need the rain so badly that I can't complain.

I think rainy days call for some sparkly bling on the inside.

Crystal chandeliers are high on my list of favorites.

And on a rainy day, they all get turned on in my house!

Never a waste of electricity when it's brightening
up a cloudy day.

Love how the shadows from this French
chandelier dance on the ceiling.

Rainy days are also a great excuse to light the candles.

Before I turn out the lights and blow out the candles,
I want to show you one more find.

Bella Villa, in Aldie, Virginia, is a beautiful antique
and home decor shop. It's my "go to" shop when I'm
looking for something unique and wonderful.

Today I wasn't looking for anything special, but
this dainty, lovely glass top table caught my eye
the minute I walked in the door.

I wonder if I could use this petite table as
a centerpiece on a buffet table for a party. What do you think?

Do you see how the base looks like a bouquet of roses?
Oh so sweet!

I have a feeling this little side table will end up
traveling around my house. So many places to put it!

I appreciate you all stopping by,

Mary Alice

Delightful Spring

Does it seem like I call everything my favorite?

Well....

maybe it's because so many vintage items speak to me....

maybe because of the unspoken history they carry....

maybe it's the wonderful patina on time-worn treasures....

Or, maybe....just maybe it's because so many
vintage items are one-of-a-kind!

Hope you're having a great week!

Thank you for stopping by again,

Mary Alice

Vintage Pieces Travel

Did I ever mention that I love old mantels?

When I found this mantel with the decorative swag in the middle
and the two columns on the side....and did I mention it
was 50% off?....I was sure I'd never find one I liked as much.

So home it came to provide a pretty focal point in my living room.

However...a couple of years later I stumbled upon a fabulous
two-tier old mantel with a mirror and amazing detail....and an
amazing price that I couldn't pass up.

My immediate thought was where to put the first mantel I bought?

Ahhh....the basement, of course.

Perfect place to display some of my collection of enamel pitchers....

and birds....

and my favorite picnic tin.

Perfect way to add some whimsy to the basement!

I appreciate you all stopping by and
taking the time to add your sweet comments.

Blessings,

Mary Alice
