Mr. Chateau Chic has always done the painting
in every home we've owned...and
he does a superb job!
Last fall when he finished painting Megan's bedroom,
he said...the same thing he says after every paint project..."this
is it for awhile, right?"
Now you know as well as I do that there is NO WAY I'm going
to answer that question in the affirmative!!
So I just smile and thank him profusely for another paint job well done.
Now that several months have passed...okay only 4 to be exact...I
broached the possibility of painting our family room.
After all, we had used the same yellow in there for 15 years!
It was time for a change.
Since I have a birthday coming up,
I thought this would be a great gift idea.
Mr. CC agreed!!
Last weekend my dear husband painted the room the
same Benjamin Moore color we used in the kitchen
not too long ago...a light gray with a hint of blue.
I love it!
It feels so fresh and crisp.
When Mr. CC finished painting and cleaning up,
I heard him say, "this is it for awhile, right?"
I just smiled!
Thank you so much for stopping by for a visit,
Mary Alice

LOL! Poor hubby! He did wonderful job. I love the new look your room has. The color is amazing.
ReplyDeleteMary Alice,
ReplyDeleteI had to laugh when I read your post. I have had this exact same converation in my home with my hubby who does all the painting for me. After each time he paints he says the exact same thing "ok we are done for awhile right?" and I just like you smile and tell him thank you for a great job!!!!!! I love when a room is freshly painted it feels new all the way around. It really is pretty great job to you and your choice of color and the hubby for painting the walls so nicely. Love it.
Kris
I find painting to be therapeutic. Perhaps your hubby does too!
ReplyDeleteA new paint job always makes me smile! Looks great!
I agree!! It's beautiful!!
ReplyDeleteHi Mary Alice, The room looks beautiful and I love the paint color. My husband would rather do just about anything other than paint. I normally do all the painting but we hired painters for the family room this time. Thanks for joining my party.
ReplyDeletexx, Sherry
This room is absolutely beautiful!!!
ReplyDeleteIt is a very pretty colour. Everything goes beautifully with it. I like the architectural piece hanging in the pass through. I'm looking for something similar for over the peninsula between our kitchen and dining room. Just to break up the gap. Have a great day. Pamela
ReplyDeleteI love it Mary Alice! It looks so pretty and fresh! What a nice husband you have!!! What is the name of the color paint???
ReplyDeleteHope you are enjoying your week
~ Cheryl
The room is beautiful....I love the new color!!! What a sweet hubby you have too! So, what are you going to have painted next? LOL
ReplyDelete~Des
It looks beautiful. I tried asking my jobs like that for my birthday...I'm still waiting two years later! LOL
ReplyDeleteOoooh it's beautiful! I do all the painting here so I have that argument with myself all the time...but I usually win in the end! It makes such a difference painting, it looks and feels so clean and fresh and it's almost like moving and getting new furniture, everything looks so different and so new! He did a wonderful job and it looks so beautiful!
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Pendra
I love the colors you have chosen for your home. It looks so lovely. I love the color of the sideboard and how it blends so beautifully with the wall color. Everything is just perfect.

What a great hubby, Mary Alice! I think it was a good idea to make it a birthday gift. Love the color, too.
ReplyDeleteI think that was a great gift from your husband! I love how it looks. It's just the right color. I have been the one to do the majority of painting in our house because my husband hates to paint. I have more patience with the job since it's me that wants it done in the first place! Now that my walls are white, I'm unlikely to need to change it for a very long time. I bet you'll feel the same way about your new wall color too.
ReplyDeleteCrisp indeed, such a pretty color Mary Alice!! I just LOVE your style!
ReplyDeleteIt's lovely! Great work Mr. CC. And our Mrs. CC has reasons to be really proud! :-)
ReplyDeleteYou scamp! Hornswoggling Mr. CC into painting another room! He did a fabulous job, but then with all that practice..... :)
ReplyDeleteMy DH has been the painter in our house, too, but those days may be ending. Thank goodness we know of another good local painter to call when the need arises.
Such a beautiful home and I love your wall color!
ReplyDeleteI really like that color...so fresh looking. I do the painting in our home and have been putting off doing the living room. Soon.
ReplyDeleteFarmhouse hugs,
Cindy
What a fresh colour!! I am laughing because I think h you Mr CC may have a twin in Florida :-)After every paint job that is what my Mr. says... this is it for a bit right? And like you I just smile.. what else can we do?
ReplyDeleteBeautiful colour.. beautiful room.
Cheers, Gee
You have a very beautiful home. Love the paint color. Thanks for stopping by and for your kind comment. xo
ReplyDeleteOh, that sounds just like mine when he has to do something around here.
ReplyDeleteDoes this ever sound familiar? My hubby says the same thing. Only we both paint. He always gets to do the ceiling. lol! Although, I did do our beadboard ceiling because his jaw had locked up from looking up so much when he installed it. We're pretty pitiful, us two! That's why we are getting help with the basement. I was planning on painting my craft room a light grey. There's a large closet area that we are going to have barn style doors. I want to paint them mustard. Hope it looks good. I love Benjamin Moore paint. Would love to know the color. I adore all of your sweet whites and still love that trio of mirrors. Thanks for sharing with Share Your Cup.
ReplyDeletehugs,
Jann
I like the gray/blue color! Very pretty! How nice of your husband to do all that painting. I am the one that does most of our painting (grrr...) and I'm so tired of it. Currently I'm finishing some family room shelves and can't wait to finish. Also.. I have to use oil based paint and it's horrible smelling!
ReplyDeletexxL
I always sigh when I see pictures of your home, it really is just beautiful! I love the wall color, it's such a soft shade. Your husband sounds like a real doll. Neither me nor my husband like to paint so we hire someone. That's expensive, I know, but it's not too often. I will tackle a bathroom or small space but I can get inpatient and sloppy! Tell hubby he did a great job! :)
ReplyDeleteXO,
Jane
Mr. CC is a real gem. I love the color of your rooms and your beautiful vintage decor.
ReplyDeleteI love the paint color!!...That Mr CC...what a great guy!....My hubby does a great job of painting too, but lately he has been so busy with work that we have had to hire painters...but I have a great painter that is extremely reasonable...so I have taken advantage of that lately...I am slowing changing out my SW Blonde which is a soft yellow...changing out to mainly SW Silvermist...Loved seeing the beautiful areas of your home!!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful color! I'm glad that your expert painter was willing to paint again! The room looks greats! Hugs, Leena
ReplyDeleteLovely color! I know what I'll be asking my husband for birthday gifts from now on. :)
ReplyDeleteIt looks lovely! I have soft gray throughout most of my house now and love it. I had yellow before, too!
ReplyDeleteI totally understand the painting saga!!! Never ending :) Your new color looks fabulous!!!
ReplyDeleteBest of wishes, and happy birthday!
love your pretty grey color, mary alice! your husband is a keeper--painting is a dirty word for my husband:)
ReplyDeleteHi Mary Alice,
ReplyDeleteAmazing,You husband have done very well job, your house such a beautiful. My house still under restoration.I love to create home living like yours;)
I will do
thanks for sharing your beautiful home

Beautiful...fresh and airy...you have such a lovely home! :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, just beautiful!
ReplyDeleteYour room is so pretty, I'm sending the link to my mom, I'm sure she'll love it as well!
ReplyDeleteYour home is just lovely. That paint color is wonderful with all of your things. If only my husband would paint as a gift to me! That is the one thing he will. not. do.
ReplyDeleteMen... Hahaha... we can't possible leave things alone for very long! It's what we do and what we love! Silly boys. Your walls look gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteLove the color. Jealous you have a hubby who paints! :-)
ReplyDeleteIt looks lovely. So soft.
ReplyDeleteLucky, lucky you!!! Your room looks just as fabulous as the rest of your house! I'm a bit of a paint snob and my husband is....not, so unfortunately all the indoor painting falls on my shoulders. Me, the procrastinator.
ReplyDeleteIt looks great! I feel like I've heard those same words from my husband, except I'm the one doing the painting! Lol
ReplyDeleteDon't you just love the fresh look/feeling a new paint color can bring to your space? The color looks amazing, and I really enjoyed all the pics of your gorgeous home! (and your hubby's a keeper, too:)
ReplyDeleteSusan
Your room looks beautiful! Gotta love fresh paint!
ReplyDeleteI am in love with that door with the hanging basket.
ReplyDeleteYou are so lucky to have a painter in the house. Steve does his oil painting, but he doesn't paint rooms. When I retire, I think it will fall to me since we won't have the budget to pay "Mr. Bill" who does all of our painting now.
What is the BM color that you used? It is so pretty!!! Please share!!
ReplyDeleteHi Carol Jane, the color I used is called Marilyn's Dress from Benjamin Moore. Now that's a descriptive name isn't it?
DeleteThanks so much for stopping by, Mary alice
So pretty ~ the color is so soft and soothing! I always love how a paint job makes the room feel so fresh and clean! It goes great with all of your beautiful things, too!!
ReplyDeleteThat's a perfectly soft color, love it and it is a perfect backdrop for your decor.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Kathy
It looks great!!!
ReplyDeleteAs I was reading along with viewing the pictures, I thought how beautiful the paint on the walls were. It goes so great with your decor. Then you said you asked the Mr. to do the family room and my heart went 'NO!!! It's so beautiful the way it is.'
I was so happy that the walls were staying the grey with touch of blue, but, then that was the new color. Ya had me going!!
It looks great!!!
Pam

It's prefect!

Such a cute story! I love that someone else wants paint for occasions like birthdays. We always choose things for our home, like gas fire logs for our 15th anniversary :) It looks so fresh and crisp, and your vignettes are gorgeous-gorgeous!! Have a great weekend,
ReplyDeletexo, Andrea
Mr. C is definitely a keeper! Love the color, so fresh and calming.
ReplyDeleteEverything looks amazing.
Hugs,
Patti
Mary Alice, it would be a blessing to have the bowls that match the ones from my MIL if you are really planning to get rid of them! Thank you!
ReplyDeleteOh, what a dear husband! He's a keeper. :)
ReplyDeleteI LOVE that blue - my favorite, a mix of blue and gray. Your family room looks fabulous! Hubby does deserve a bit of a break for this job well done.
Wow, this is very nice...I love the brown wood dresser
ReplyDeleteand the antique mirrors. I love the color you add...
it all looks beautiful!
Corinne

So elegant and yet so homey Mary Alice. I needed you when I was furnishing my little apartment in http://www.loirevillageescape.com.
ReplyDeleteWe scoured the brocantes, vide greniers, and Emmaus charity stores to find our little treasures. So if you are wanting a taste of treasure hunting in a quintessentially French village, our apartment overlooking the village square is there for the asking. Just remember you will need a container to take home your finds!
Oh my, your home is gorgeous! Elegant and warm! Patty
ReplyDeleteMary Alice - I have the same yellow couch! I love it! Seeing it on your blog just confirmed I'm on the right track to achieve the country French look I'm going for with a bit of cottage feel. I love how you have paired it with the pillows. Your living room is gorgeous...it's warm and inviting!
ReplyDeleteI'd love to know more about the sofa. Do you remember the brand?
ReplyDeleteThe wall color is gorgeous! I'm trying to convince my husband to go gray... in the house! :)
