Painting a room is never just about the walls, is it?
I like simple window treatments that let the light in.
Repainting gives an excuse to change around accessories...as
if we need a reason to make changes!
I brought in these columns to add height to this corner.
And while everything is off the walls...and you've just gone to a
barn sale and found some awesome shutters...it's the
perfect opportunity to hang something different.
The curved top and original hardware have so much character.
They are a perfect fit on the wall between the
family room and dining room.
I appreciate you all stopping by,
Mary Alice

Your home is so beautiful....the new paint color, the new window panels, the accessories....everything is just stunning! The shutters are so fabulous too :o) Love it all!

ReplyDeleteLove - Love - Love those new "old" shutters you hung on the wall! You're so right about the arched tops and hardware adding character. Those were a great find! I like them hung on the wall like that. Love your wall color too. I know all about how one thing leads to another. Love your burlap draperies and your columns. I know you must be enjoying the changes.
ReplyDeleteI love the hardware on your shutters.
ReplyDeleteBefore blogging, I rarely thought about using anything other than art on our walls. And, because our home is also an art studio/gallery it is mostly art on the walls. But, I am craving an old door or shutter for a wall. I just have to find the right piece.
I'm off today to look for just the right color papers for your book. It will be fun to look for embellishments in my stash that remind me of your vignettes. A fun challenge!
Wow! Those shutters are a beautiful architectural art form. I'm so glad you didn't pass them up. The columns and that old door are great too. I love it that when we change one thing in a room it leads to others, always keeping things fresh looking. Nice job!
ReplyDeleteI love love the shutters! I also think those columns are so unique and interesting. Love all your architectural details!
ReplyDeleteYou have a great eye for balance and detail. I really love the shutters and columns and the drapes are just beautiful!

So so pretty, Mary Alice. From the columns to the drapery fabric to the shutters. It is so ironic that I am headed to a favorite antique mall tomorrow to look for two of the items (columns and shutters/windows) that you have pictured here. If you would only allow your readers to shop your home... would be the best one stop shop around!
ReplyDeletemelinda
The wall you have your new shutters on is so exactly perfect for them. Your desk at an angle looks wonderful, too. Pretty style!
ReplyDeleteIt all looks great and those shutters are to die for!

Wonderful, Mary Alice! Great photos, and I love the curtains! Very soothing color! :-)
ReplyDeleteI love the curtains - are they burlap? I'm thinking about making some for the new house when we finally get in... or using painter's drop cloth. Im leaning to the burlap because like you, I prefer a lighter feeling.
